Fall Decluttering Challenge- Day 3

How is everyone doing with their decluttering? I have to admit, I didn’t get very much done in the bathroom yesterday because I had work and then the kids’ activities. I worked on our big cupboard in the bathroom a few minutes at a time and it looks a lot better! I definitely need a push on busy days like yesterday. It would be much easier to just look at the day’s schedule and skip it.

The dumbest thing I decluttered yesterday? 15 bottles of dried up nail polish!

DAY 3: PAPER- OFFICE/BOOKS

I left this one a little vague because our homes are all different and we each have problem areas. Someone might have a messy desk and another person might have a bookshelf that is overflowing. Or both. But the paper problem in general is pretty universal.

I also looked into stopping the junk mail in the first place! I am going to try to be a little more proactive by contacting places to remove us from their mailing list when we get catalogs. You can also opt out through the Federal Trade Commission (click HERE). I am sure that I did the opt out years ago, but I need to look into it again. There is an app called PaperKarma that you can use to unsubscribe- just snap a pic to send them and they take care of it- but it costs $1.99 a month.

While we are on the topic of unsubscribing, how about e-mails? With Christmas approaching, you are sure to get bombarded with e-mails! I will be the first to admit that I get suckered in by the amazing sales. I am unsubscribing now from anything I don’t really want or need to avoid temptation. It doesn’t take that long to do: just scroll to the bottom of the e-mail and look for the unsubscribe link. You might have to confirm it on the next screen, so double check! Declutter your inbox! :)
