Juniper Easter Dress

I decided that I was going to revive the Easter dress tradition this year, after taking a few years off. My oldest daughter wants me to sew for her, but I told her THIS one was the last (as it says in the title). My second oldest daughter, despite my begging, only wants another pair of Sofiona Railway Joggers. The youngest three have all expressed no preference whatsoever in what I sew for them. Usually I have many specific requests and I draft custom patterns for each daughter. I don’t like making decisions, so we will see how this goes.

I will not be drafting and sewing five dresses in one week. I don’t have a particular theme in mind. I guess this year will be more of a “go with the flow” sort of sewing. If you are interested, you can see all of my past Easter dresses HERE. Looking back, I think I was a bit crazy and it makes me tired. My doctor thinks that I am stressed, but he has no idea just how far I have come.

In the spirit of this new, chill Easter dress sewing, I finished one dress over a month in advance AND I used a pattern. I used the Juniper pattern from Sofiona Designs. The neckline reminds me of a vintage style and the back is really cute!

The pattern has options for a (reversible) peplum top or a dress. It also has additional pattern pieces with a darted bodice version in the bigger sizes to accommodate developing girls. Different fabric pairings/placement can really change the look of the dress. I decided on solid pink accents for the neckline, waist, and bows. The only change I made to the pattern was to hand stitch the lining on the inside instead of topstitching with the sewing machine. I can’t quite let go of all of that perfectionism and I don’t mind hand sewing anyway.

I have not decided what I am making for the other girls. We shall see what inspiration strikes.
