Project Jet Set - Tokyo

For our stop on the Project Jet Set tour I decided to to a Tokyo garden inspired photo shoot. We have a beautiful local garden with especially breathtaking azaleas- which just happen to be native to Japan. So I sewed up some outfits, then we grabbed some sushi and had a little picnic in the garden.

I recruited another model for this photo shoot! My niece is particularly lanky and loves rompers. I was able to make her a custom jumpsuit with the RImini pattern by extending the pants length a few more sizes to account for her longer inseam. I used double brushed poly from Joann so the final result is soft and stretchy enough to accommodate her constant cartwheels and backbends.

My 10yo has been a reluctant model lately, but when she heard there would be sushi she changed her tune. I made a Sevilla Sleeveless Top using double brushed poly- the black is from Joann and the red is cut from a $1 clearance cami from Walmart. I made black stretch twill Singapore shorts as well but I altered them to be a bit more feminine. I shortened them a few inches and rolled the hems. The back pockets have additional decorative topstitching. The drawstring in the knit waistband is made from pulling a strip of the black double brushed poly.

For my youngest daughter I used this beautiful silky print from Joann to make a Too Wild dress. I lengthened it a few inches so that she can wear it a little longer. I also decreased the elastic length in the back so that it would fit her a bit better. I just love the crossing straps in the back and this dress turned out lovely!
