My latest decor collection for Sunbury Station is a summer fruit theme. I made wooden lemons, limes, strawberries, peaches, and watermelon slices. When thinking of other summer fruits I remembered all of the hours spend picking sour cherries from a big tree in our yard. A light bulb instantly appeared over my head just like in a cartoon. I got out the biggest wood beads that I had and some red dye and made a mess in my kitchen. (If you follow my stories on Instagram or Facebook you got to see that). They came together exactly as I had envisioned so I took some photos and video to create a tutorial.

WOOD BEAD CHERRIES TUTORIAL

Supplies:

(2) 25mm wood beads (or any size desired)
red dye (Rit or Basketree)
15” jute twine
6” x 1” piece of green fabric

Dye the beads according to the product instructions. Allow to dry thoroughly.

Knot one end of the twine. Slide the beads onto the other end of the twine. Knot the other end. (The knots must be bigger then the holes in the beads.)

Slide one bead to each knotted end of the twine. Fold the twine in half. Take the center of the twine and wrap around the folded twine. Pull the center of the twine through the opening created and tighten to form a loop. (I don’t know what to call this knot but if you are a scout or something let me know!)

Tie the green fabric onto the twine just below the knot. Pull tightly. Trim the ends to a point.

These cherries look cute hanging from a drawer pull or cabinet knob. They are also perfect for tucking into a tiered tray or centerpiece. I think they would be really cute tied onto a wrapped, kitchen themed gift as well.
