Wood Bead Bunny Tutorial
/I made some small thank you gifts for a few craft classes this spring and these wood bead bunnies were well received. It took me awhile to figure out the best process so I thought I would share a blog tutorial!
WOOD BEAD BUNNY TUTORIAL
You will need:
25mm wood bead (sand bottom edge flat if desired)
18mm wood bead
wood button, circle, or heart
1/2” x 4” felt
1/2” square felt
12” piece of crochet thread or similar string
8” piece of string
hot glue gun and sticks
upholstery or doll needle
scissors
(Optional) For a flatter base, sand the bottom edge of the 25mm wood bead.
Place hot glue around the top opening of the 25mm bead. Lining up the holes, place the 18mm bead on top of the 25mm bead.
Fold the felt in half and cut an ear shape.
Thread both ends of a 12” piece of string through the eye of the needle. Place the center of the felt inside the center of the string.
Use the needle to push the string into the stacked beads.
Pull the string ends until the felt ears are slightly lower than desired. Knot the ends of the strings at the bottom of the 25mm bead.
Trim the ends and pull the ears slightly to bring the knot inside the bead. Place hot glue on the bottom of the 25mm bead and place it on the base.
Cut the small piece of felt into a circle, about 1/4-3/8” in diameter.
Place a small dot of hot glue on the center back of the 25mm bead and attach the felt circle.
Tie the 8” piece of string in a bow around the section between the two beads and trim the ends.
I think these make nice little gifts or group craft projects. They fit easily inside a plastic egg or fillable fabric egg! I have tried a few different bases and they all work pretty well.
Here is a video tutorial of one made with a wood button:
